Enlightenment 0.19.12 Desktop Environment Drops Support for Wayland

According to the release notes, Enlightenment 0.19.12 is a major release that fixes over 40 issues reported by users since the previous maintenance build of the desktop environment. It also mentions, without explanation, that support for Wayland has been completely removed. From the Release notes:

Quote:
This bugfix release improves on the 0.19.11 release and resolves a number of issues. Please note that due to a serious issue related to X11 window handling, this release is not compatible with versions of EFL <= 1.15.1 and >= 1.12.0, inclusive. See T2745 for details.
Also, this release no longer contains any form of support for Wayland. (emphasis ours)
What do LQ members think about this move?

The rest of the story: Wayland support will return to Enlightenment in E20. They dropped support because their implementation is outdated and they have already a better one in their tree that will be enabled in E20. So, no need to worry.

commit d9501096bfaf626699dd6a61b49be2fb96ee6713
Author: Mike Blumenkrantz <zm...@osg.samsung.com>
Date: Fri Sep 25 22:53:16 2015 -0400

completely remove all wayland support from build system

this is unmaintained and out of date. the protocol versions are old,
and it's extremely unlikely that any client will work and be in a
usable state given the development progress since E19 was originally
released.

use E20+ for wayland support.
