The Document Foundation announces LibreOffice 5.1

Quote:
The Document Foundation announces LibreOffice 5.1, a full featured open source office suite which compares head-to-head with every product in the same category, while standing out with superior interoperability features.

LibreOffice 5.1 offers a completely reorganized user interface, and several improved features targeted at enterprise deployments: better support for ODF 1.2, interoperability with proprietary document formats and file management on remote servers.

LibreOffice has been downloaded 120 million times since the launch in January 2011. The office suite is deployed by large organizations in every continent, with the latest addition being the Italian Defense Staff with over 100,000 desktops.
Official Announcement...

Having any LQ members tried the new interface in 5.1 yet? If so, what do you think?

Just read your post and download the new version. I currently do not have a writer project available for testing out the new version. However, in exploring the new interface, I did run across a drop down menu for inserting fields. That is a big plus for me. I really appreciated Version 5 when it first came out. This new version loaded nicely and I hope it continues with the improvements.

In upgrading; I used the Launchpad PPA: ppa:libreoffice/libreoffice-5-1. It occurred to me, after the fact, that the prior PPA may need to be "deleted". I have done LibreOffice upgrades several times and never had a problem. So my guess is that this is a non-issue.
