I love Maemo. But I cannot get a new device that will run it. Now own a Nokia E63 ... will have to switch to an Android device soon.

MeeGo seems to be reviving with Jolla and the community effort. Tizen and webOS (open) are yet to perform in the consumer market. Maemo didn't see much action this year. Next year there's going to be FirefoxOS arrival too. Android eco system is now the juggernaut. However for their outstanding work and and for providing the best pure android distribution, I voted Cyanogen.

Strictly speaking, the Nokia N9 does not run MeeGo 1.2 as its operating system. It instead runs what Nokia refers to as a "MeeGo instance".

I'm going with CyanogenMod. While yes, it is a fork of Android, it is faster and more feature complete. Android+more customization is exactly what you get.

Crazy: there's no Mer on this list even though it is the successor of both Meego and Maemo (which itself was superceded by Meego) is used by Jolla's Sailfish, KDE's Plasma Active, Nemo and many more. Tizen is there, though? Ah well ... maybe next year.
